| If you are a MS Windows user and
are having difficulty contacting the Google Earth (GE) servers,
try going to the following link for assistance: http://earth.google.com/getest.html
If the test fails for any of the three servers:
1. Make sure that your firewall program isn’t blocking
these three servers over port 80.
2. If you use a corporate proxy or VPN, contact your IT administrator
to ensure that the proxy permits access on port 80 to the failed
servers. Also, if Internet Explorer isn’t your default
web browser, your IT administrator must add your company's proxy
information to Internet Explorer so that Google Earth can launch successfully.
3. Ensure that Internet Explorer doesn't have a check next
to "Work Offline" located in the "File" menu.
4. Disable pop-up blockers before launching Google Earth.
5. If you’re using a wireless router, try connecting directly to your
router.
6. Try deleting your cache.
7. Ensure that your anti-virus program isn’t categorizing
Google Earth as malicious software.
Google Earth is displaying a missing dll error message
If you're receiving a missing .dll error message, please first
try reinstalling Google Earth. You can download and install the latest
version of the software from the following link: http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html
After reinstalling, should you continue to receive this error message, you
may need to update your graphics card driver. If you're using the latest driver
for your graphics card, please try reinstalling the driver, as some of these
files may be missing or corrupt.
How can I view 3D Buildings?
The Layers panel contains a variety of data points of geographic
interest that you can select to display over your viewing area.
This includes points of interest (POIs) as well as maps, roads,
terrain, and even buildings. You can use the layer data feature
of Google Earth to display 3D buildings.
Google Earth has 3D buildings listed in a number of major US cities including Boston,
MA; Cleveland, OH; and Washington, D.C. to name a few. To view these:
1. Turn on the 3D building layer by selecting the check box in the dashboard.
2. Position the viewer within a reasonable viewing altitude over a major city
such as San Francisco. The 3D buildings start to appear from an eye-elevation
of 10-12,000 feet. Check the eye-elevation meter on the lower right of the
3D viewer to determine your current viewing height. The 3D buildings appear
as light grey objects over the imagery of the city. As you zoom in, more details
will appear until you can see the entire shape of a building.
3. Use the tilt and rotate tools to get the best view of the buildings.

Why is the imagery blurry?
If the Streaming indicator (it appears at the bottom of your
Google Earth image) has reached 100% to indicate that all available
data has been downloaded, it's likely that Google Earth does not currently
provide high-resolution data for this location.
How old is your data?
Google Earth acquires the best imagery available, most of which
is approximately one to three years old.
